Countdown to the 2024 2nd Annual KPA! Fur Ball

Kerrville Pets Alive! was formed in 2019 with a mission to reduce the euthanasia rates at Kerr County Animal Services, Kerr County’s only open intake animal control facility. In those days, the shelter was forced to euthanize hundreds of cats and dogs due to lack of space and resources. We are proud to say that as the result of the hard work by our board and volunteers, we have reduced the euthanasia rate by approximately 80 percent.

We save lives by providing KCAS with volunteers, resources and medical funding for injuries, vaccines and spay/neuter surgeries. We also help facilitate rescue and transport for impounded animals and provide free microchips for Kerr County Pets.

We practice shelter diversion by offering low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccine clinics as well as a year-round free pet food and supply pantry. These services keep pets home, healthy and out of the shelter.

We recently engaged with Schreiner University to offer hands-on animal experiences for their Pre-Veterinary students at our Safe House property. We hope to broaden that partnership and fund further education for those students.

We are all-volunteer and operate from private donations. Eighty-five percent of our donated funds go directly to animal care. Our work is very expensive.

We conduct fundraisers and apply for grants however, the majority of our work is supported by our annual Fur Ball. This year we hope to raise funds to support our lifesaving mission.
